Trauma Totes

In an instant, brain injury can change your life. Brain Injury Association of Indiana (BIAI) recognizes that families are suddenly forced into an unprecedented, frightening and traumatic time. Without warning, families may face the unknown and may be displaced in a trauma center as their loved one recovers from a brain injury for an extended period of time.

The “Trauma Tote” initiative began with a deeply compassionate mother who reached out to BIAI, driven by a heartfelt mission to give back, raise awareness, and support her community and fellow Hoosiers impacted by the silent epidemic of brain injury. Inspired by this shared purpose, the initiative came to life.

BIAI created Trauma Totes” designed to help individuals in these situations know that someone is by their side and that they are not alone. These totes offer essential information about brain injury, along with contact details for someone who can help guide them through this difficult time. Each tote includes self-care necessities—such as soap, deodorant, oral hygiene products, hair essentials, and lotion—along with supportive items like memory journals, puzzle books, noise-reducing earplugs, and more, all aimed at promoting comfort, healing, and connection.

If you are interested in getting involved with our Trauma Tote initiative or would like to donate to this work, please contact us at biassociationofindiana@gmail.com. Someone will be in touch with you to let you know how to get started,

Thank you in advance, on behalf of those impacted by brain injury!
