Founded in 1981, the Brain Injury Association of Indiana is the first charter chapter of the national Brain Injury Association of America. Our members include people with brain injuries, family members, friends, and professionals who work with people who have had brain and head injuries.
We support and advocate for persons with brain injury and their families throughout the state of Indiana. We advocate for them by responding to their challenges and representing their concerns through legislative efforts and active support of programs created for their needs.
We serve the brain injury community by working to secure and develop community based services, encouraging research, establishing support groups and providing access to pertinent information and resources.
We educate the public and increase statewide awareness of brain injury as a serious disability with lifelong consequences through the development and distribution of informational materials, news, and notices of conferences, symposia and other meetings.
We strive to prevent brain injury through public awareness, education and legislation—the only known cure!
The Brain Injury Association of Indiana is a nonprofit 501 c (3) service organization dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of brain injury through education, advocacy, support, prevention and by facilitating inter-agency commitment and collaboration.
To provide education and resources to help prevent brain injury—the only known cure.
To ensure that ALL those impacted by brain injury are not alone in navigating the multiple systems of services and resources throughout their continuum of care and beyond.
To empower those impacted by brain injury to understand their value, self-worth and strength in every aspect of their lives.
To advocate for legislation to increase awareness, understanding and services in order to enhance the life and longevity of brain injury survivors.
We envision that ALL people with brain injury and their caregivers will be well served, understood, empowered, and supported in living full and meaningful lives.
